This week Donostia – San Sebastián opens its European Capital of Culture. This year, you can enjoy an extensive program of cultural activities which will be starting tomorrow January 20, Patron of our city, and will last until January 24. Five days of special programming with an extensive program of activities.

If you approach San Sebastian these days to visit, we have selected some of the opening ceremonies that you can not miss are:

January 20 at 0.00 pm, Plaza de la Constitution:
Traditional Tamborrada, which begins the feast day of San Sebastian, will be special. the flag of the city accompanied by the European flag will be hoisted. The Golden Drum, highest award given by our city on January 20, Cristina Iglesias will be in charge of hoist.

The European anthem will be played by the Orfeón Donostiarra accompanied by dance group Kresala and Band of Errenteria.

January 20 at 12.00, Alderdi Eder:
Child Tamborrada, comprising more than 12,000 school 48 companies, will have a company formed by 4,000 children from the Polish city of Wroclaw (Wroclaw), it will also be in 2016 European Capital of Culture. This act will serve to twin the two cities.

January 23 at 12.00, Paseo de la Concha: Concentration of drumming on the Paseo de la Concha.
The different drumming will approach the Paseo de La Concha from the different neighborhoods where they coincide at 12.15 approximately and construed in unison the March of San Sebastián.

January 23 at 20:00, Maria Cristina Bridge: Bridge Opening Ceremony coexistence.
The show bridge Coexistence, has designed and developed by the creative artist Hansel Cereza, one of the founders of La Fura dels Baus.

The public is invited to gather around the bridge of Maria Cristina to enjoy the visual spectacle and part of building a bridge ephemeral values, intentions and dreams to develop throughout the year.

January 23 from 20.00 to 23.00 hours, Museo de San Telmo:
To mark the start of Capitalidad the museum will open its doors.

January 23 at 21.00, Plaza de Bilbao:
Music Box rock concert with Bullet Proof Lovers and Corizonas.

January 23 at 22.00, St. Mary:
Donostiarra Choir concert at the Basilica of Santa Maria in the Old Town.
